Last night we crowned our LINGO festival slam poetry champion and for the second year in a row, the winner was Abby Oliveira. It was an extraordinary competition with an incredible pedigree of performers, which saw a final composed of Abby, Stephen Clare, BeRn and Kevin P. Gilday. After a hard fought final round, it was Abby who took the title by the slenderest of margins. Our undefeated Lingo slam champion will now go on to open with a poem for Saul Williams tonight at The Button Factory (and a host of other cool gigs), but you have a chance to see her do a full set before then at our Northern Ireland spoken word showcase (Red Pill / Monday Night Cure) in Workmans Club at 5pm today (Doors 4.30pm). Tickets are understandably in high demand now, but there are still some left. Grab one here!
